Marriage
A covenant for life, and a sacrament of the Church.
Christian marriage is a covenant by which a man and a woman give themselves to one another for life, for their own good and for the raising of children. As a sacrament it is the concern of the whole Church, and not of the couple alone.
Preparation takes several months. It includes instruction, the reading of banns, and the papers the diocese requires — among them a recent certificate of baptism for each party. Couples are asked to begin early rather than close to the date they have in mind.
Arranging it
Speak to the Parish Priest well in advance — at least six months before the date you hope for. He will explain the preparation and the papers required.
